Sign-in and modes¶
Signing in¶
Sign in with your usual university account (single sign-on). You can also add Abstimmbar directly as an activity in your learning platform (LTI 1.3; e.g. Moodle; Stud.IP as soon as it supports LTI 1.3) and skip the separate login — In the learning platform explains how. Rooms created from within the LMS are marked “From LMS” on the home page.
Your participants, on the other hand, need no account: they join anonymously via a QR code or the room code (see Inviting participants).
Simple mode and expert mode¶
The first time you use it, the interface starts in simple mode with the most important features. Use the mode switch at the top right (“Simple” / “Expert”) to switch to expert mode with all settings at any time. Your choice is saved. After switching, a short notice at the bottom confirms the new mode; when you switch to expert mode, the controls that just appeared are briefly highlighted.
Among other things, only expert mode shows you:
- Sections in question sets and before/after questions (see Creating questions),
- Duplicate, Export (JSON), Copy set (share link) and Archive results in a question set's menu,
- AI assistance (if your institution has enabled it, see AI assistance),
- bilingual content (German/English, see Bilingual content),
- recording mode (see Recorded lectures),
- the room settings for the logo, a permanently displayed QR/room code and the Closing info for participants,
- moderating word clouds, free text and mind maps directly on the projector.
The tour adapts to your mode.
Language and appearance¶
In the user menu (your initial at the top right) you choose the interface language (German or English) and the Appearance: light, dark or matching your system. The language is saved to your account. Your participants can switch the language of the participant page themselves, independently of this — more in Bilingual content.
